Discovery Call

Bookkeeping services for Austin businesses

If you run a business in Austin and the books are a month behind, you're in a common spot. Receipts pile up, the bank feed never quite matches, and the tax deadline arrives before the numbers do. Unicorn Consulting closes your books every month, so the figures are ready when you or your CPA need them.

What monthly bookkeeping covers

Your bookkeeper sets up your accounts and chart of accounts, or migrates them from your current system. After that, the monthly work is bank and credit card reconciliation, recording income and expenses, tracking fixed assets and depreciation, payroll accounting, and keeping receivables and payables current.

The output is financial statements, a cash flow view with forecasting, and reports built around the numbers you actually look at. See the full bookkeeping and accounting service.

What a Texas business's books have to support

Each of these filings is built from the monthly books.

Sales and use tax

Texas assigns each permit holder a monthly, quarterly or yearly filing schedule. Monthly returns are due on the 20th of the month after the reporting month. Quarterly returns are due April 20, July 20, October 20 and January 20. Source: Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, sales and use tax.

Franchise tax

The annual franchise tax report is due May 15. The no tax due threshold is $2,650,000 for report years 2026 and 2027. Source: Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts, franchise tax.

Dates and thresholds come from the linked agencies. Check your own filing schedule with the agency.
